The team here at Real Thread flew into San Francisco and set up merch at the Fort Mason Center for the Launch Festival. Spanning the near entirety of the Fort Mason Center, 11,000+ people from start-ups and venture capitalists converged to share ideas, talk funding and actually launch a collection of companies.
A swath of speakers, from Tony Hawk to Glenn Beck, shared their thoughts on the future of tech, investment and what makes a great start-up. Honestly, speakers at these events can carry a name and not much else. Any hesitations we held onto were quickly lost as we heard the speakers. Launch rose above by providing intelligent, entertaining and innovative speakers.
Companies we know and love, like Reserve, Invision and Intercom filled the exhibitor hall, providing a small look into the innovation to come.
We set up live printing and provided an analog feel for the digital crowd.
Companies that were looking to launch provided pitches in between the speakers. Some had been birthed days before at Launch’s Hackathon and others had been in development for years.
The products were incredible and the presenters amazing in their own right. Eleven companies were funded and launched by the end of the conference.
Innovation can strike anywhere, but we sure were glad to be in the heart of it at Launch Festival last week. Check out an in-depth run-down of Launch’s festival here.
